but then what kind of scale
compares the weight of two beauties
the gravity of duties
or the ground speed of joy?
tell me what kind of gauge
can quantify elation?
what kind of equation
could I possibly employ?
and you’ll never know, dear
just how much I loved you
you probably think this was
just my big excuse
but I stand committed
to a love that came before you
and the fact that I adore you
is but one of my truths

This is going to sound like hilariously teen girl angst vague-tumblin’, but it’s not, there’s just not another way to put it I’ve been trying to write this post for a week. My insides feel peeled open like an overripe peach and this song is on repeat in my head and I’m not sad I’m just exhausted from feeling so much all the time.

Maybe this is why most people aren’t polyamorous. I let my heart feel everything it wants to feel to the fullest possible extent, but god I don’t know how to reel it in when I probably should.

I saw Help! at Seattle Children’s Theatre tonight, and obviously immediately came home and cleaned the kitchen to The Beatles.

ahahahahahahahahahaha OOPS forgot I was doing the music diary again.

So far today I’ve listened to Call Me Maybe…enough times that I’ve lost count.

…yeah.

p.s. tagging merajaybird in this post because this is all her fault.

You decide what’s right. You decide what’s good.

Today’s unpacking soundtrack is Into the Woods, which I fell in love with during the run of Prairie Nocturne (it was my mopping music).

Today’s getting ready music was my entire collection of The Hold Steady on shuffle. Craig Finn, let me touch your face and your vocal cords, I love you so much.

I also love that one time my mom and I were listening to The Hold Steady in the car and she couldn’t stop laughing at “Don’t tell the dancers, they’ll just get distracted.”

When Heaven Is Whenever came out, I listened to that and nothing else for three weeks straight. The Hold Steady never gets old for me.

Unpacking music: BAMF SM (abbreviation mix) that I made for one of my favorite stage managers and dear friend a couple of years ago.

Sometimes I forget I’m doing something like the Music Diary Project…and I start listening to True to Your Heart (98º feat. Stevie Wonder from the Mulan soundtrack).

Hi guys, I’m twelve.

This part of the soundtrack always gets to me. (Forbidden Friendship, How to Train Your Dragon for those of you who were wondering.)

And I’ll learn to fix stuff
if you will teach me to love,
and god will radiate out from within us
‘stead of this bullshit from above.

Video of footage from the protests in Wisconsin last February, set to Rebellion (Lies) by Arcade Fire.

I don’t know quite what my music diary is going to look like for me, but when I started this song just now, sitting in the Walla Walla airport at 6 AM, this is immediately what I thought of.

Miss you, Wisconsin.

Some nights, I stay up cashing in my bad luck.
Some nights, I call it a draw.
Some nights, I wish that my lips could build a castle.
Some nights, I wish they’d just fall off.

But I still wake up, I still see your ghost.
Oh Lord, I’m still not sure what I stand for, oh
what do I stand for? What do I stand for?
Most nights, I don’t know anymore.

This is it, boys, this is war - what are we waiting for?
Why don’t we break the rules already?
I was never one to believe the hype - save that for the black and white.
I try twice as hard and I’m half as liked, but here they come again to jack my style.

–fun.

Okay so this is just from this morning because I was just seriously in love with this song, except really hello fuck.

Some nights I stay up cashing in my bad luck.

She crashed into the easter mass with her hair done up in broken glass. She was limping left on broken heels when she said, “Father, can I tell your congregation how a resurrection really feels?
